SALARY: R397 116 per annum

REQUIREMENTS:
-
A minimum of a three-year tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6) in Horticulture.

At least two (2) years’ relevant experience in a horticultural environment.

A valid Code B driver’s licence.
-
Computer literacy with good written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Sound knowledge of horticultural materials and their applications, plant fertilisation, landscaping, and horticultural practices.

Knowledge of procurement and tender processes.
-
Knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHASA), Labour Relations Act, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), and Agricultural Pests Act.

Knowledge of human resource management principles and procurement principles.

Willingness to adapt working hours in accordance with operational requirements.
DUTIES:
-
Formulate, develop, and implement horticultural plans and maintenance programmes in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Manage horticultural maintenance activities at state-owned properties.
-
Supervise, manage, and delegate work to staff within the Horticultural Services Unit.

Administer and oversee garden maintenance service contracts, including conducting site inspections.
-
Ensure compliance with OHASA and all relevant legislation within the horticultural sector.

Prepare and manage tenders for the procurement of tools, equipment, and materials required by the Horticultural Unit.

Exercise effective budget control and asset management.

Liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Provide administrative support within the Horticulture Unit.
